Build up to Manchester United v Fenerbahce
Manchester United vs. Fenerbahçe: The Build-Up to a European Clash
Hello guys, welcome back to another blog! As Thursday approaches, excitement is building among Manchester United fans as united gear up for their crucial European encounter against Turkish side Fenerbahçe. This match not only holds significance in the UEFA Europa League but also provides an opportunity for United to solidify their standing in the competition and build momentum for the remainder of the season. United's performance in the competition has been underwhelming so far with two draws against FC Twente and FC Porto sparking widespread criticism of manager Erik Ten Hag. Thursday's clash also marks a reunion with former United manager Jose Mourinho, now at the helm of Fenerbahce.
8 players miss out due to injury
Eight members of united's first team squad did not take the flight to Turkey leaving questions over the starting lineup for the game. Luke shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain unavailable for selection along with Leny Yoro who continues to be sidelined through a long term foot injury. The most surprising news from the squad that travelled to Turkey was that centre back Jonny Evans was not involved. The 36 year old has been one of the few positives of recent, a long serving player playing at his best despite being 36 years old! I may be a bit biased however as he is from Northern Ireland like myself! Harry Maguire is also missing along with a further three midfield players, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandez who is serving a ban due to his red card last time out against FC Porto. In more positive news, it seems that Matthijs De Ligt is fine after receiving a head wound against Brentford, while Casemiro is also involved after being forced off at Old Trafford on the weekend.
